Fawic develops custom Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) for the support, handling and positioning of satellites, spacecraft components and other sensitive hardware. Working closely with your engineering team, we review the project specifications and discuss the operating sequence, mechanical interfaces, load cases and environmental conditions. These technical discussions establish a shared basis for the design and its verification.

Handling & Positioning
Handling and positioning equipment must support space hardware securely while allowing access during assembly and integration. Fawic develops custom MGSE around the required movements, working positions and operating sequence, so the equipment supports both the hardware and the tasks carried out by your team.
Depending on the application, the solution can incorporate mobile handling frames, rotation mechanisms and features for securing the hardware in position. The design considers payload mass, centre of gravity and the available working space, together with operator access. This enables controlled movement and stable positioning as the hardware progresses through the planned assembly and integration activities.
The technical specifications form the starting point for development. In technical meetings with your engineering team, we review the handling process, load cases, safety requirements and interaction with other equipment. These discussions establish a shared basis for the functional design and the requirements for verification.
Support Structures & Mechanical Interfaces
Support structures must provide a stable base for space hardware and connect correctly to the equipment used during assembly and integration. Fawic develops custom frames and fixtures around the mechanical interfaces, designated support points and equipment envelope, taking the intended application and specified loads into account.
Depending on the project, the solution can incorporate dedicated mounting arrangements, interface plates and removable structural elements. The design considers structural strength and stiffness, allowable loads at the hardware interfaces and compatibility with existing ground support equipment. Mounting positions and access requirements are coordinated so the structure supports the hardware without obstructing the planned integration work.
The technical specifications and interface requirements are reviewed with your engineering team during technical meetings. An Verification Control Document (VCD), where available, provides the interface definition, supported by drawings and CAD models. Together, these inputs establish the connection details, dimensional requirements and verification criteria for the support structure.
MGSE & Transport Container Integration
Fawic combines MGSE engineering with reusable transport containers, developing the support structure, transport base and protective enclosure as one coordinated system. With in-house engineering and production, we align the equipment’s handling functions with the protection and access requirements for transport and storage.
The open and closed configurations shown in the images illustrate how MGSE can be integrated with the container base. A modular, tool-free panel system provides easy access for loading, inspection and handling. Panels can be removed individually to suit the required access, while the hardware can remain on its dedicated support where the application allows. This helps limit unnecessary transfers and re-handling.
We can develop a complete solution or engineer the container around existing customer MGSE. Technical specifications and meetings with your engineering team define the mounting interfaces, loading sequence, transport loads and required protection.
